Here is a short guide to get you started based on the most common setup.

1) Your need to create / assign a folder within your hosting account to be specifically used to contain all the files / data that you want to distribute via CDN. The folder should be also accessible from the Internet. For example, it can be http://your_domain.com/cdn-data/

1a) You need to advise us the folder and the URL to access it. We MUST be able to access the folder through the URL you gives us. ** it is recommended that you actually upload a decent size (5 – 10mb) file there for testing purpose**

2) For CDN to work transparently for you, we encourage the use of CNAME records to point a specific sub domain to our CDN server. A commonly used subdomain for CDN purpose is http://cdn.your_domain.com
For this guide, we will call http://cdn.your_domain.com THE “CDN Enabled” URL. Basically once you have setup your CDN properly, when you want your files/data to be distributed through our CDN network, you will hyperlink it as http://cdn.your_domain.com/big-file.zip

To give you a clearer picture, this file “big-file.zip” can also be accessed directly from your server at http://your_domain.com/cdn-data/big-file.zip

So if you want your users to download it directly from your server, use http://your_domain.com/cdn-data/big-file.zip — if you want your users to have faster access and/or download the files through our CDN service, ask them to download it through http://cdn.your_domain.com/big-file.zip

2a) How to setup your CNAME record? You need to have access to your DNS zone to create a CNAME record. Under normal circumstances, if you are using a shared hosting service, you’ll need to email your host and ask them to create the CNAME record for you. If you are on a dedicated server or VPS platform, you normally have access to your DNS zone. If you’re using your domain registrar DNS service, you need to login to your domain registrar control panel to create the CNAME record.

In your DNS zone editor, you will add the CNAME record in the following format.

cdn 1800 IN CNAME acc.http.flexilayer.com.

We will advise you the actual CNAME string (acc.http.flexilayer.com.) after your CDN account has been activated.

2c) Once you have setup the CNAME record in your DNS zone, you need to inform us therefore we can complete your CDN service configuration on our end.

Yes its free! Flexihostings have just launch yet another service that allows you to determine the provider, the speed , and even trace and test a domain! These four web analytic tools are new to our site and FREE just for you!

The WHOIS query determines the owner and/ or the administrator of a domain name and provide contact details. This system originated as a method that system administrators use to look up information to contact other IP address or domain name administrators — It’s just like the white pages! Want to know your speed?

The Speed Test tool allows you to have an idea, whether it’s just for curiosity or for you to certify how fast a website loads from the test region.

The Traceroute test (a.k.a trace route, tracert) will trace the route that test packets taken from one web server to another. The test results provide a list of hosts or IP addresses showing the route taken by the test packets starting from the chosen monitoring location to the destination domain or IP. And last but not the least is the Ping web tool. It is a computer network administration tool used to test whether a particular host is reachable across an Internet Protocol (IP) network and to measure how long it takes for the round-trip time of packets sent from the local host to a destination computer.

Now, try these four web tools by logging in to

http://whois.flexihostings.net/ for WHOIS query, http://speedtest.flexihostings.net/ for Speed Test, http://traceroute.flexihostings.net/ for Traceroute and http://ping.flexihostings.net/ for Ping.

Enjoy and bookmark them!

We are Volunteers

We are a group of local volunteers whose priorities are to protect life, property and bush.

Our areas of responsibility are bush around Bundeena and Bonnie Vale Camping Grounds. We respond to bush fire, MVA (motor vehicle accidents), storm damage, search & rescue, retrievals, medical emergencies, and assist the NSW Fire Brigade with property fires and the NSW Ambulance Service where needed

We are always looking for members – either as firefighters or Support members.

The pay is atrocious but the satisfaction of being able to help your community in times of an emergency is “priceless”.

Training undertaken with the Service is recognised nationally and many courses can lead to specialised career qualifications outside of the Rural Fire Service.

Your commitment involves one Sunday per month, 9:00am to 12:30pm and a monthly meeting on the last sunday of the month.

It is a great opportunity not only to be involved protecting your community but to join a crew working towards a common goal.

Come down for a chat with Captain Ian Nightingale or Snr Dep Captain Dean Nightingale – it just may be for you!!

Protection of the Most Holy Mother of God (Melbourne, Australia)

About us

Church History

History of the Building of the new church, ‘Protection of the Mother of God’, by the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia Harrison Street, Brunswick, Victoria, Australia.

During the late 1970’s and early 1980’s clergy and parishioners of the Protection of the Mother of God Cathedral in Collingwood began seeking a new church site.  The move was necessary as the site in Collingwood was not large enough to expand (the land owned is entirely taken up by the present bluestone church building and the adjacent church hall) and restrictions on parking were inconvenient, especially during weekdays.  Ideally, the parish preferred to build a new church but its existing resources, it was thought, did not permit this.  Purchasing an existing building was thought to be faster, simpler and less expensive.

Under Fr. Wally Evsukoff the Holy Protection parish became vibrant. A few church buildings had been investigated as possibilities for a new Russian Orthodox Church until in 1983, the church council sought to buy a building in Camberwell from the Uniting Church.  Upon approval at a General Meeting, the transaction progressed to the signing of a contract, however, a change of agenda by both parties saw the Uniting Church use a technicality to withdraw their property from sale.  Around about this time, the parishioners and council changed to a firm resolution to purchase land and construct a new Cathedral.

The Building Committee felt that it was very important to have a model of the proposed building to be displayed as soon as possible to generate interest among parishioners.  As we had no finalized artistic design drawings available, Fr. Nicholas Karipoff invited his sister and iconographer, Antonina, from Sydney to produce a plan and four elevations for a model.  The artistic design of the
church was largely developed in 1985.  The church of St. John Chrysostom, upstream from Yaroslavl along the Volga River was chosen as a guide.  Antonina’s talents in artistic design contributed much over many long days to the final proportions of the new Cathedral.  A model was then commissioned from Herman Witte and his associates.

Three architects were invited to submit proposals for the plans for the new church (Vlad Chernov,  Alex Kamenev and John Petrakis).  John Petrakis secured the contract with a competitive estimate.  He had a working relationship with Brunswick Municipal Council – which was another advantage.  John, who was later to become an honourary Russian dubbed Ivan Petrov, developed the design further and approached the Brunswick city council about a Planning Permit for a Church and a Community Centre.  His diplomacy in dealing with the City Council, managing to appease them whilst not compromising design is a credit to him.

CUTTING ROOM FLOOR
18th August 1987, on the eve of Transfiguration.  JP as well as members of the building committee, Damian ‘Sandy’ Ford and Nick Chlednikowski had Damian put in much time voluntarily in a project managerial role, until being employed by the committee full time (he still worked much overtime).  Planning Permit was granted on 19th December 1988 (St Nicholas’ feast) after much diplomacy on the part of JP

The foundation laying ceremony took place on the 5th November 1989.  Within the stone some relics of Holy Martyr Grand Duchess Elizabeth were placed with parchment within a sealed copper/brass cylinder.  This is based on the ancient Christian practice of building churches above the graves of holy martyrs.
